The British Safety Industry Federation (BSIF) has announced the appointment of David Lummis (pictured) as its new CEO. With over 30 years of experience within the safety industry he has worked for companies including AO Safety and Wenaas UK as well as being one of the founders of Eurosafe.

The new CEO role has been created as part of the planned forward development of the BSIF, to generate and deliver a five year programme to strengthen the infrastructure of the organisation and implement a clearly defined set of forward objectives. The Federation says that with a proven track record for successfully running and growing businesses within the safety industry and an already familiar face with the BSIF, Lumissis' experience and detailed understanding of the current strengths and weaknesses will help him to further develop the BSIF and establish a stronger position within the safety industry along with the wider business community. BSIF chairman David Hall commented: "We are delighted that David has taken on the challenge of strengthening the BSIF and will work with industry stakeholders to deliver exciting new opportunities for members. With his level of experience and previous knowledge of the BSIF, we feel confident that he will be able to maintain and develop its status within the health and safety industry."
