Phil Moore, head of engineering at Zurich Risk Services is the new chairman of the Safety Assessment Federation (SAFed).
Zurich and the Safety Assessment Federation (SAFed) are delighted to announce the appointment of a new chair. SAFed is based in London and represents the independent engineering inspection industry in UK. The appointment, which is for two years, will see Moore working alongside Richard Hulmes, chief executive of SAFed to promote safety and reduce the risk of accidents through high technical standards and competency across the industry.
In this role Moore will chair the SAFed Board, which consists of directors from member companies, which includes Allianz Engineering, Hibernian, HSB Haughton Engineering Services, Lloyds Register, Royal and Sun Alliance Engineering, SGS (UK) and Bureau Veritas Inspection.
Moore says: “I’m looking forward to taking on this role. SAFed members undertake inspection of most of the plant and equipment in the UK across all industry sectors and public services such as transport, retail and leisure. They detect hundreds of thousands of safety defects, allowing rectification before accidents happen. As such, I believe that our members provide a significant contribution to public safety within UK. As a board, our main objective is to ensure that our industry continues to operate with the highest professional standards and to influence the direction of our industry to contribute to a safe working environment, protecting both the public and employees.”
