Once there was universal production pressure for the three day car; now it’s the five day trailer with leading trailer maker Schmitz Cargobull UK offering what it believes are the shortest lead times available from any UK-based trailer manufacturer.
Following significant investment at its UK manufacturing facility at Harelaw, County Durham, the company will now build and deliver a range of standard curtainsider and refrigerated trailers in just five days from the receipt of an order.
The offer applies to standard specification trailer models in the company’s S.CS, Euroliner curtainsider and SKO reefer ranges.
Schmitz Cargobull says the S.CS curtainsider is one of the most popular trailers on the market with its design offering optimum load capacity, loading volume and safety. The S.KO reefers meanwhile are produced using Schmitz Cargobull’s patented bolted and galvanized production technique which removes the need for welding and results, the company says, in consistently high product quality.
The refrigerated trailer box units themselves are constructed using Schmitz Cargobull’s Ferroplast modular steel-skinned panels to keep loads at the desired temperature.
Built to a standard specification, the five day curtainsiders are offered in a choice of 2.6 or 2.7 metre vehicle heights while customers have a number of curtain colours to choose from. Reefers are available in a single standard chassis height.
Schmitz Cargobull’s investment in new machinery coupled with new production techniques means that a finished trailer can now leave the production line at Harelaw every 33 minutes.
David Pressley, Schmitz Cargobull’s Product Manager (UK), said: “These five day trailers are not stock trailers that have been standing in a car park for a few months. They are today’s trailers built for each client when the client wants them.
“In the modern haulage industry there is a growing demand for short lead times and these models are built to a high specification and feature everything users normally want from a curtainsider and a reefer.”
