European storage equipment manufacturer Constructor Group has opened a new distribution centre at its Swindon site, following the amalgamation of group businesses Dexion, PSS and HiLo. Stocking over 1,000 lines valued at £5.5m, the new distribution hub also operates as an assembly facility for construction of shelving end frames.
The site is fitted out with Dexion's racking equipment and has six forklift trucks including a CombiliLift, reach trucks and counterbalance models. A warehouse management system enables visibility of all transactions from goods-in to despatch, real-time tracking of order picking, and a mobile printing capability to reduce travel time for warehouse operatives. All functions are linked with a Sage 200 system that handles everything from orders through to invoicing.
Managing director Richard Moss says the new hub provides the group "with an ideal platform from which to grow our position in the UK market with our renowned Dexion, PSS and Bruynzeel brands".
The new distribution hub is an addition to existing UK warehouse facilities and provides a storage and cross docking operation for products arriving from other group factories and suppliers.
