Nissan Motor is to extend its use of UGS NX digital product development software beyond its core design platform to now include Nissan affiliates.
The automotive maker says it expects that move to push benefits gained from the project to the next level. That will mean improved efficiencies resulting from a common digital design and product data management platform throughout the design and supply chain.
NX will be used by Nissan’s supply chain to digitally design vehicles, assemblies and parts on a global basis, with Teamcenter, UGS’ PLM (product lifecycle management) software, managing all collaboration and product data.
“Nissan expects to see enhanced system efficiency by implementing common digital design and product data management platforms,” says Keigo Fukushi, general manager, process information management department, R&D at Nissan. “We hope to see huge improvement in digitalisation of affiliates.”
