Cement start-up manufacturer Novacem reports success with AutoCAD Plant 3D software for optimising its production plant and process design, enabling it to develop a new magnesium silicate-based carbon-negative cement.
Howard Simons, Novacem's vice president of engineering, says that his London-based organisation has been using the Autodesk's Clean Tech partner programme for its digital prototyping software licences.
"Being able to develop the process using state of the art layout design tools … enabled us to explore different concepts by giving our design team more freedom to be creative, while pioneering new and innovative production techniques," says Simons.
"This [has helped] Novacem to optimise the process design, as well as provide vital information associated with costing and visualising the technology for investors," he adds.
Simons gives the example of AutoCAD Plant 3D software's role in designing and visualising the performance of its plant's planned automated control systems under simulated real-world conditions.
"We value the opportunity to be part of the Autodesk Clean Tech partner programme," he says.
