RT Display Systems, the exhibition and retail displays manufacturer that trades as Octanorm, is implementing an ERP system to streamline and integrate processes from sales and engineering to production and financials. The firm has purchased a £65,000 20-user Syspro 6 system from Information Engineering, specifically including its CAD integration tool, SysproCAD. It’s due for go-live in July. Alan Sheridan, Octanorm’s financial director, expects the system to bridge the existing gaps in planning, manufacturing and distribution processes. He says it will impact everything “from quoting and estimating, through sales and inventory, to purchasing and accounts.” And he adds: “The SysproCAD application, which allows us to generate parts manuals and bills of materials automatically from our AutoCAD and OctaCAD systems, will prove particularly useful.” The project is in response to what he describes as Octanorm’s growing manufacturing and product configuration requirements. “We don’t just produce exhibition and retail systems for customers. We also provide a range of services to ensure the use of these systems is as simple and effective as possible for a host of varied market sectors ranging from juke boxes to ambulances. “It was this flexibility coupled with ease of use and simplicity of implementation – allied to an effective proven product – which we were looking for from our system supplier.”
