Danish oil and gas contractor Semco Maritime says it has selected IFS Applications to improve its project operations globally.
Erik Gaj Nielsen, president of Semco Maritime, says that the organisation has gone for IFS' EPCI (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation) system, and that the implementation project will be in three phases, with the first worth SKr 7 million including consulting services.
He explains that the company, which has seen substantial growth organically and through acquisitions, wanted "a well-proven project-driven business application that met the requirements in the oil and gas industry" to manage its major infrastructure projects.
The solution will be delivered on the IFS Enterprise Explorer user interface, and will support engineering, sales contract and project management business processes, as well as procurement, subcontracting, document management, financials, material management, fabrication, HR, and after sales service.
The solution also contains tools for interfacing with CAD applications and standard integrations with planning systems.
"Our business is delivering large infrastructure projects, which requires total control over time, cost, cash, risk and resources in each project," says Nielsen. "We are confident that IFS Applications will contribute to improving our project performance and enable us to better compete for larger integrated EPCI contracts."
IFS expects the entire project to be delivered in the first quarter of 2011.The contract contains further options for licenses and additional consulting services, and has a total value of SKr 20 million for IFS.
