Midlands-based software company Pengower yesterday launched technology that it says makes developing almost any web-based business software a virtually cost free exercise.
Luke Mulekezi, director of business and co-founder of Pengower, says that its new on demand technology allows a complete novice to create fully scalable, business applications in a few days, “completely eliminating the need for expert programmers”.
In essence, it appears that companies simply select the software they need from a library of pre-designed templates that are then customised free of charge. As the systems are live on the web, users can watch changes being made while Pengower developers talk to them on the phone.
“What most small and medium companies want is powerful software that meets their needs precisely,” says Mulekezi. “But high development costs normally put such software out of their reach. Our aim is to make the process of developing business software quick and easy so that we can pass on the benefits to customers.”
How does it work financially? There are no hardware or set-up costs, but customers pay a standard monthly per-user subscription fee with a minimum three-month contract term.
Pengower says its prices are, on average, 70% less than those of traditional competitors.
