Developed in partnership with mental health specialists Rightsteps, it enables users to assess their current emotional state through clinically validated questions and provides a customised mental health score, along with expert advice on accessing further support. It is quick, confidential and accessible 24/7, without the need for personal identifying details.

Its launch comes in response to a 2023 survey carried out by recruitment company, Hays, which revealed that 89% of engineers experience job-related stress and 40% struggle with mental health issues due to the pressures of their roles.

Jane Petit, Foothold CEO, commented, “Our Mental Health Check-In is the latest step in our journey to achieve our ambition. We are all becoming increasingly aware of how our mental health impacts us at work and home. By giving engineers and their family members access to a quick and easy-to-use tool to understand and improve their mental health, we aim to empower even more people in our community to live well and thrive.”

Foothold also offers other free digital support services, including wellbeing and personal finance webinars, the Wellbeing Hub for mental and physical health, the Differently Wired Hub for neurodiverse engineers, and the Foothold app for financial and legal advice.
