Out-of-the-box integration for the complete design-to-release process is Oracle's promise, following connection of its Agile PLM (product lifecycle management) software acquisition to SAP ERP.
The company says it has used Oracle Application Integration Architecture to provide a pre-built process integration pack (PIP) – and that the result for users will be faster time-to-market for new products, along with reduced cost, improved quality and minimised supply chain disruption.
Oracle Vice president of application development for AIA, Jose Lazares, explains that Oracle's Agile PLM Design-to-Release PIP is based on an open, standards-based service oriented architecture (SOA) – delivering synchronisation of product content among distributed engineering and manufacturing organisations.
"Early visibility into product development and supply chain data can significantly improve time to market and time to volume metrics, enabling greater, sustainable and more predictable product innovation," says Lazares.
He points, for example, to the value of bi-directional synchronisation between engineering and supply chain information on PLM and manufacturing systems, in terms ofr greater visibility, without the need for recoding and with protection of changes across upgrades.
He also cites user-friendly configuration that enables both business and IT users to define and manage value maps for the elements important to them.
