Oracle has now re-branded the logistics management software it acquired through the purchase of applications developer G-Log (Global Logistics Technologies), recently closed.
G-Log’s flagship GC3 (Global Command and Control Center) is now Oracle Transportation Management, taking over from Oracle’s earlier Transportation Execution (TE) and Transportation Planning (TP) suites.
Services offered with the suite include optimisation, order entry, procurement, supply chain event management and visibility, track and trace, freight payment and historical analysis – all aimed at reducing cycle times and lowering transportation costs, according to the company.
With a substantial minority of existing GC3 users currently on ERP from Oracle rival SAP, the re-named software will still be available as a stand-alone product.
Oracle also plans to extend the offering’s integration capabilities through its Oracle BPEL Process Manager – a component of Oracle Fusion Middleware.
“Through the planned use of Oracle BPEL Process Manager we intend to strengthen the existing ability to support flexible integration to ERP applications, regardless of the customers’ underlying software,” says Oracle vice president of product strategy Jon Chorley.
“With Oracle Transportation Management, we continue our commitment to enhance and improve our offerings so that all customers can rely on flexible operations that adapt to changing markets and shifts in customer demand,” he adds.
