Oracle’s SPARC Supercluster runs faster than ever

For users concerned about running Oracle databases ultra-fast, Oracle has unleashed its SPARC Supercluster, based on SPARC T3 and M5000 servers.

Oracle CEO Larry Ellison explains that the new general purpose machine is a complete infrastructure solution for running Oracle database RAC environments. "The combination of Oracle's world-class software, and the latest hardware innovations represented by the new SPARC T3-based servers, runs Oracle database faster than anything ever before," comments Ellison. Based on the architecture used in achieving Oracle's new TPC-C performance benchmark world record, the solution harnesses new SPARC servers, FlashFire, InfiniBand QDR, Oracle Solaris, and the ZFS Storage Appliance. Oracle says the supercluster will be available in the new year in T3-2, T3-4 and M5000-based configurations.
