Five manufacturers have won the chance to grow their business overseas thanks to NatWest's Trade Mission Competition.
EDM, Greaves, The Paper Cup Company (PCC), Mechan and Technowash were selected by a panel of expert judges as best demonstrating their exporting potential.
The winning companies will be supported by NatWest's export specialists in exploring potential overseas opportunities. Their prize includes a business trip to one of their target markets as well as pre-arranged meetings with potential clients and suppliers.
Mark Eastwood (pictured), head of manufacturing for commercial banking at NatWest, said: "There are huge opportunities for British manufacturers to do business overseas and we are delighted to be supporting them in expanding their exporting reach. Our winners showed huge potential and I look forward to hearing about their successful business trips over the coming months."
The winners are working with NatWest's manufacturing team to determine their overseas strategy and craft their winning trip to maximise the benefit to their businesses.
Run as part of a pilot, the competition invited entries from manufacturers from across the North East, North West and Yorkshire.
NatWest is now looking in to how it can incorporate the successful elements of the competition into their support for businesses looking to expand internationally.
Judges included Works Management group editor Max Gosney, the EEF's Andy Tuscher and David Coppock from UKTI.
