Ovum's technology audit of Exalead's CloudView 5.0 gives the search-based applications and business intelligence system the thumbs up.
The analyst reports that it is a highly scalable, high performance SOA search platform for search-based application and SQL-less analytics.
Ovum also states that the offering's scalable service-orientated architecture provides advanced data-extraction, indexation and text-analytics features that are suited to a wide range of requirements, including web facing sites and enterprise search.
Mike Davis, senior analyst at Ovum notes that some organisations have now reached the limits of their preferred RDBMS for information access. He suggests considering search-based applications, such as this, particularly when huge amounts of structured and unstructured data are involved.
Davis further advises that organisations seeking to exploit social applications should also assess CloudView, because this information could well provide new kinds of business intelligence.
"Current deployments where CloudView is used for unified information presentation, reporting, and search, illustrate the fact that the product is relevant for organisations that are evaluating innovative uses of search technology," states Davis.
