Food manufacturer Franks Ice Cream has signed up for a pallet management service with IPP Logipal. The deal sees IPP Logipal supplying the manufacturer with pallets, maintaining them to ensure no disruption to deliveries.
The Ammanford, South Wales-based ice cream manufacturer supplies its products to entertainment facilities, supermarkets, schools and hospitals throughout the UK. Using its own fleet of refrigerated vehicles, the company also acts as a distribution partner for big-name food brands that supply frozen ice cream products to the sector, including Walls, Nestlé and Mars.
An early spell of warm weather this year prompted a rise in demand and Franks Ice Cream decided to re-evaluate its pallet supply chain partner ahead of the peak summer trading period as pallet quality was causing problems.
Franks identified that IPP Logipal's one-way trip service offered an ideal solution with pallets undergoing regular quality control checks. This ensures that pallets are always in good condition, reducing administration costs and minimising the chance of supply chain delays.
IPP Logipal makes pallet deliveries from its depot in Newport to Franks Ice Cream's hub in South Wales where products are then distributed to its customers across the UK. Once pallets have been utilised, IPP Logipal arranges for collection and inspects them before passing them as fit for reuse.
Franks Ice Cream director, Ronnie Dallavalle, comments: "During our busiest trading period it becomes increasingly important that we have a reliable pallet partner that ensures we can get our products from A to B quickly, cost efficiently and with the minimum of fuss.
"IPP Logipal's high quality pallets, simple administration process and regular quality control checks ensure customers receive our premium products in excellent condition and on time."
