As part of parent company Matsushita Electric’s strategy to transform its supply chain and realise a global weekly planning cycle by 2003, Bracknell-based consumer electronics manufacturer Panasonic UK has completed the first phase of implementing i2’s Supply Chain Planner software.
Panasonic wants to move from a monthly planning cycle to a weekly one, so that it can respond quickly to fluctuations in demand and supply and changing consumer buying trends.
The implementation, which was delivered in just nine weeks by a joint team including i2, IBM and Panasonic’s own engineers, follows the successful adoption of i2’s Demand Planner software. And the two applications together should address the company’s whole planning cycle – through purchasing, inventory and sales – to the execution of demand, supply and purchase planning.
