Executive search and interim firm Holmes Noble has released a new discussion document that aims to address the impact on industry of how humans and machines are collaborating.

The paper outlines the thoughts, opinions and trends voiced by industry leaders in supply chain, manufacturing and logistics at a recent roundtable event.

The organisation says that technology has rapidly altered the nature of industry over the last 20 years, with many businesses having benefited from the intelligent partnership of humans and machines that is improving both efficiency and quality.

It adds that the future of manufacturing, logistics and supply chain operations is inextricably linked with this kind of technology and businesses must learn to embrace it - not to thrive but just survive.

Says Rachel McGowan-Kemp, head of supply chain, logistics and procurement practice at Holmes Noble: “We’re examining the central issues driving current and future use of automation and robotics. The paper looks into both the benefits and implications of the continuing growth in the use of automation. It also highlights how companies can profit from these changes.”
