Industrial computers company Captec is asking manufacturers to consider how much time is lost, how much money wasted and how much customer service suffers when machine operators work from paper-based job lists – which can and do get lost. Captec’s Katana & Sabre range of Factory PC’s, it says, bring a whole new level of efficiency to the factory floor. In addition to issuing and monitoring work orders, they can also interface with production machinery as part of an MES (manufacturing execution system). The paybacks, says Captec, are direct cost savings and increased productivity, often in less than 12 months.
