PCB maker goes for .Net-based ERP solution

Global PCB supplier eXception VAR is implementing Microsoft .Net-based production and distribution ERP software from SSL WinMan, with go-live due in June. The company says it selected Winman for its logistics functionality, the lure of a single seamless solution and its apparent expertise. eXception VAR IT and engineering director Andrew Steele explains that the company had been using a specialist PCB management solution but that this went out of support in 2004. SSL WinMan was chosen in August last year for its “combination of technology and service.” Says Steele: “With a solution built from the ground up on .Net, we knew we would be investing in as future-proof a solution as possible. But equally important was the need to know the people involved had a thorough understanding of our requirements.” Implementation began in January this year, and Steele says benefits will include efficiency improvements, not least from an automated quotations module currently under development. “Perhaps the biggest benefit will be having one seamless solution. Replacing our old ERP system and our separate accounts solution with SSL Winman will remove any boundaries to our being able to work smarter and more efficiently.”
