Polish slowdown fails to dent Robinsons' growth

The plastic and paperboard packaging manufacturer Robinsons said today that the Polish operation to which it was relocating its food and toiletries business had experienced a slowdown as a result of current economic uncertainties. However, with the help of recent new business gains, this division was expected to resume growth in 2012.

The company – which manufactures packaging for the food, drink, confectionery, cosmetic and toiletry sectors for major players like Proctor & Gamble, Nestle, Kraft, United Biscuits, Northern Foods, Masterfoods, Unilever, Avon and Boots – announced that 2011 profits would be up, helped by the sale and closure of its paperboard businesses. Sales for 2011 were £21.4m, 10% better than in 2010. Robinson is based in Chesterfield and has manufacturing plants in Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Stanton Hill (Nottinghamshire) and Lodz (Poland). It employs around 225 people.
