Powerbrands boost Reckitt Benckiser

Announcing its annual results today (10 February), the household, health and personal care products group Reckitt Benckiser said 2009 had been "a very good year".

CEO Bart Becht (pictured) said: "Reckitt Benckiser had a very good year in 2009 with net income growth of +13%, behind strong revenue growth of +8%. This performance was supported by the Group's 17 Powerbrands, behind significant investment in media and marketing and successful new product initiatives. Based on the current market outlook, we are confident of achieving continued good growth in 2010." At constant exchange rates, revenue for the year was £7.75 billion while net income grew to £1.42 billion. The group's so-called powerbrands include Finish, Vanish, Air Wick, Dettol, Clearasil Nurofen and Gaviscon.
