The winners of this year’s Manufacturing Computer Solutions’ MITcon 2008 Awards – the annual awards that reward and recognise the very best IT implementations and strategies in manufacturing industry – have now been announced.
Overall winner was PPG Architectural Coatings for its implementation of a CDC Factory operations and maintenance management system.
In the engineering design and development category, the winner was UAV Engines for its extended ERP and PLM implementation, with Numatic International second and BMW Sauber, Gordon Murray Design and LFE al highly commended.
Then in the manufacturing and business management category, the winner was Centurion Europe for its very successful, low cost ERP project, followed by Texecom, second, and Pobjoy Mint, RH Technical Services and Wall Colmonoy highly commended.
Winner of the plant and factory improvement category was PPG Architectural Coatings, with Rayburn Plastics in second place for its introduction of a Seiki Systems production system, followed by food manufacturer Greencore, Wall Colmonoy again and Willerby Homes in the runners up position.
Finally, in the supply chain category, Doncaster-based tools manufacturer Centurion Europe took the top honours again, with Pobjoy Mint in second place for its Access Supply Chain system implementation, and then GGB, UAV Engines and Wall Colmonoy all highly commended.
We congratulate all of the above organisations’ project teams for their outstanding achievements. All succeeded in impressing our senior panel of independent judges, with their delivery of world-class business improvements.
Given this year’s record number of entries and the inspirational shortlist of candidates – all of which passed the initial judging processes with flying colours – each is a deserving winner in its own right.
