Indian engineering services specialist Vulcan Industrial Engineering Company (VIECL) says it expects an advanced planning and scheduling (APS) system from Preactor to help it invest in a new ERP system.
The £22m global company – which serves the mining, cement, steel and energy industries, among others and has operations around the worls – says it has ambitious plans to increase turnover five fold over the next 5 to 7 years.
Ankit Gandhi, VIECL's production project manager, says Preactor production planning and scheduling technology is a vital part of that plan.
"We had talked with Preactor previously and it was clear that they had a thorough understanding of our business, in addition to a thorough analysis of what our production planning and scheduling requirements were," explains Gandhi.
"We recognised the cost savings Preactor could bring, and we estimate that these will directly help us to invest in an ERP system, which will further benefit our business."
VIECL works extensively on custom projects, he says, which require bespoke routings, and Preactor will enable the firm to accurately plan each new routing while also monitoring progress of each project.
The company, which also receives castings from a number of different suppliers, will be able to visualise the impact of rejecting one, using Preactor's 'what if' capabilities, says Gandhi.
The implementation is currently underway and being handled by Preactor Software India, a subsidiary of Preactor International.
