Enterprise management systems developer QAD has acquired Dublin-based transportation management software company Precision Software for $14.5 million.
Says QAD chairman Pam Lopker: “By delivering an enhanced transportation management system that integrates seamlessly with QAD enterprise applications and other ERP solutions, we’re bringing customers one step closer to the ‘perfect lean market’ we envision in global manufacturing.”
Precision, which has been going for about 20 years, has supplied global trade management and international regulatory compliance systems to some 900 organisations, and has been a QAD partner since 1996, providing users with certified application interfaces, training and implementation teams.
QAD says its new Precision Software Division will continue to sell and service its products to customers outside QAD’s manufacturing industry specialisations – including to freight forwarders and the emerging desktop shipping market.
Also, existing Precision customers will get the global reach and financial strength of the QAD organisation.
Greg Lloyd, Precision’s chief operating officer, is now president of the new division. Precision’s founder, chairman, and chief executive, Brendan O’Donoghue, has retired.
“We believe that our combination creates a definite win for the customers and partners of both companies,” says Lloyd. “By leveraging QAD’s global footprint and strategic focus on emerging markets, we will be better able to serve existing and new customers in additional geographies.”
