The latest version of QAD Enterprise Applications, QAD 2008.1, featuring enhancements to financials, customer management, manufacturing, distribution, and supply chain management, service and support, was launched at the company’s customer conference in Sorrento, Italy, last week.

“This updated version, with its combination of user efficiency, application flexibility and functional sophistication, has been designed to better meet the dynamic business needs and industry requirements of today’s global manufacturers,” comments Pamela Lopker, president and founder of QAD. “QAD 2008.1 is the most extensive release of QAD software to date, and another step toward achieving our vision of ‘The Perfect Lean Market’ for global manufacturing,” she adds. Other improvements worth special note include: improved ease of use, all the way from implementation to the user experience; more flexible workflows and automation; better adaptability for mid size companies and large multi-nationals; and improved governance, risk and compliance. I ncidentally, QAD is also integrating PLM (product lifecycle management) with ERP, especially for the automotive, high tech and industrial equipment sectors, by offering the PTC product suite, fully integrated, to customers throughout Europe. and PTC customer Gemalto, a digital security specialist, says: “At Gemalto we are always looking for innovative solutions that will help us accelerate product design, deliver more product faster around the world, and manage the ever-changing environmental and trade compliance issues. “This in mind, we see great potential for integrating QAD Enterprise Applications with PTC Windchill and other PTC products as we expand our international business. We are making plans to evaluate the integration soon.”
