Australian sweet baked products manufacturer Quality Desserts says it expects to improve business efficiencies, while empowering management with real-time information when it goes live with a Formul8 ERP solution from Sanderson.
Julian Lancaster-Smith, group business manager for Quality Desserts, explains that the project includes factory floor data capture to replace manual paper based systems. Touchscreen PCs linked to weigh scales will, he says, ensure that the latest recipe versions are used and that quality and consistency are improved.
Further screens will assist staff by displaying production schedules, mixing and packing instructions, recording material use, improving traceability and quality control information.
Functionality within the recipe-costing module will also highlight the impact of ingredient cost changes, a feature that Lancaster-Smith insists is particularly important in the current economic climate.
“We required an IT solution that was capable of capturing detailed production, traceability and quality control data directly from the factory floor and integrating this with our business management systems,” says Lancaster-Smith.
“Sanderson has extensive knowledge of the food industry and their ability to demonstrate a single solution to address all of our business requirements was key to our decision.”
