Recognition scheme supports motorsport industry

The Motorsport Academy Employer Recognition Scheme recognises the successes of educators and trainers in their ability to provide the world-class skills and expertise that UK motorsport industry employers require from their workforce, while identifying the strengths and specialisms that exist within the national education and training provision. The Scheme was established to help ensure that the UK motorsport sector retains its pre-eminence in the worldwide field of motorsport engineering. The Motorsport Academy is a partnership between internationally renowned automotive education and training provider Carter & Carter Group plc, and the Motorsport Industry Association (MIA), with funding from Motorsport Development UK (MDUK). The Employer Recognition Scheme has evolved from extensive research into the UK motorsport industry’s employment dynamics, particularly in the areas of industry recruitment and human resources support requirements, the changing profile of businesses, the dynamics of the industry’s workforce, education and training requirements and motorsport employer skills needs. The criteria focus on core technical and engineering requirements, as well as the soft skills required of employees in the motorsport sector. Both Cranfield University and Swansea Institute of Higher Education participated in an assessment cycle that comprised on-site inspections of their resources and facilities, a presentation and Q&A session to an esteemed motorsport industry panel, and an assessment of their programmes against motorsport workforce attribute requirements. Both institutions now hold the approval "Motorsport Academy UK Recognised Educator" for their particular level of education provision.
