David Bell, chief corporate development officer for JCB, is to take over as regional chair for the CBI in the East Midlands.
He will replace David Frankish, chief executive of NFT Distribution, who has completed his two-year term. As part of this role, Bell will chair the CBI East Midlands Regional Council, which is represented by 50 senior business leaders.
Bell joined JCB in 1974 as a graduate trainee, following an engineering apprenticeship at Rolls Royce in Derby.
He has held a variety of senior roles during his 40 -year JCB career, including positions at JCB Sales and Service and as managing director of several JCB manufacturing business units which included three years in North America.
In 2010, he became JCB's chief development officer taking responsibility for JCB Operations in China and Latin America and for the strategic overview of the Agricultural business.
Bell is chair of governors at the JCB Academy and is currently helping to establish JCB's latest factory in Jaipur, India.
