Product information management software firm Reqio has joined the new RFID Centre in Bracknell, alongside Microsoft, Intel and Manhattan Associates, to demonstrate the business case for universal product data. The company sees its product information management software as essential for modern supply chains wanting to capitalise on Global Data Synchronisation and RFID. It makes the point that its systems are built on a Microsoft infrastructure, and are therefore at the low cost end of the spectrum of solutions. Recent research by Andrew White and Jeffrey Roster of analyst Gartner consludes that the promise of RFID is on the horizon, “but to make it work retailers must establish clean, consistent product data so that partners can interpret RFID messages when received.” Reqio is also joining the line-up at the EPCGlobal Conference, to be hosted by GS1 UK at The Queen Elizabeth II conference centre in London on 7 June.
