Aerospace giant Rolls-Royce has today (30 July) unveiled its half-year results which show revenues up to £5.1 billion and a 9% rise in profits.
Since the end of 2008, £2bn of new business has put the half-year order book at a record high of £57.5bn. The company says it expects revenue growth in 2009 to be similar to that achieved last year.
Chief exec Sir John Rose said: " The global trading environment remains very difficult and we believe the recovery is likely to be slow.
"However, our growing order book, the breadth of the portfolio, our robust balance sheet and the early action we have taken on costs underpin our investment in the business."
Earlier this week, Rolls-Royce announced it is to establish four new manufacturing sites in the UK to make discs, military fan blades, single crystal castings and civil nuclear components at a total investment of around £300m.
