Rolls-Royce wins $1.6bn Trent order from IAG

The A350-1000 aircraft is powered exclusively by the higher-thrust version of the Trent XWB. The announcement follows recent confirmation by IAG that Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines will power 18 Boeing 787 aircraft that it plans to convert from options to firm orders joining 24 that are already on order. Meanwhile, Rolls-Royce has announced that it is selling its 50% shareholding and interest in the RTM322 helicopter engine programme to Turbomeca for €293 million. The RTM322 engine powers the Apache, EH101 Merlin and NH90 helicopters. Rolls said the RRTM Adour engine programme, which powers the Hawk and Jaguar aircraft, is unaffected by this agreement, as are the other helicopter engine programmes in the Rolls-Royce portfolio. Work is expected to be transferred to Turbomeca over three years and Rolls said it would "work closely with employee representatives to manage any employment impact".
