Safety seminar for facilities managers

Organisers of a seminar taking place next month say the event will help facilities managers cut through the complexity of health and safety issues.

'Safety Essentials for Facilities Managers', hosted by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), takes place on 4 February in London's Canary Wharf. It promises to deliver best practice advice and guidance, including case studies and regulatory updates from expert industry speakers. Simon Joyston-Bechal, a partner at Pinsent Masons, will deliver the keynote address. Case studies will cover everyday practical solutions including budget management and how to justify spending on safety. Health and safety issues on the agenda include slips and trips, stress, manual handling and posture. Experts will also talk about how to move from compliance to safety excellence. Roger Bibbings (pictured), RoSPA's occupational safety adviser, said: "Sharing best practice is an excellent way to raise the safety bar. RoSPA has always encouraged organisations to learn from each other; we know that safety leaders have built up a wealth of experience and skills, and are looking for opportunities to share their knowledge with peers. "Effective and sensible management of health and safety doesn't have to cost the earth. This type of seminar is the ideal way to pick up practical hints and tips, and learn from others' successes."
