British software house Sanderson Group has made its second acquisition since flotation – that of retail software business Megabyte. The deal involves up to £1.5 million in cash and 2 million Sanderson shares, and further extends Sanderson’s already wide portfolio of applications and services for industrial, commercial and utility companies. Based in Bradford, West Yorkshire and Swanmore in Hampshire, Megabyte owns the intellectual property rights to software that provides front and back office electronic point of sale systems. The company employs 66 people and has some 100 customers across the UK and Ireland, and last year turned over £3.79 million with profit of £23,602 against £183,982 in the previous year. Sanderson managing director David O’Byrne says: “This acquisition will significantly extend our product offerings in the growing multi-channel retail market, and will provide good cross-selling opportunities with our existing mail order, retail and distribution operations.”
