SAP invests in partner Crossgate to drive business networks

Manufacturing business software giant SAP AG has made a significant investment in Crossgate, which provides hosted business-to-business integration services.

Crossgate, cited just a couple of days ago as a key provider of expansion services for SAP’s Business ByDesign on-demand ERP solution, is already a SAP partner, and the investment signals SAP’s expectation of growth in out-of-the-box business network and collaboration systems and services. “In a world where business networks are emerging as a new unit of industry competition, the gating item has been business network-enabling systems,” comments Geoffrey Moore, author of ‘Crossing the Chasm’ and managing director of consultancy TCG Advisors. “This … partnership between SAP’s worldwide enterprise capabilities and Crossgate’s network of enablement hubs goes a long way to fill that need, allowing business network transformation to become a growth accelerator instead of a roadblock.” In addition to the investment, SAP and Crossgate are expanding their joint SOA (service-orientated architecture) development. Currently, more than 40,000 companies exchange documents and data via Crossgate’s Business-Ready Network, which includes services powered by SAP NetWeaver.
