Canada's Maple Leaf Foods, the food processor, says it is implementing SAP Business Suite ERP software to help increase operational efficiencies and support growth.
Michael Vels, chief financial officer at the Toronto-based organisation, says he expects SAP to provide an integrated, shared services platform across the company's global operations.
"The capabilities of SAP will streamline our customer interface, increase our speed to market and reduce operating costs," says Vels. "The software will provide us with the ability to incorporate best practices in the consumer packaged goods industry in North America and worldwide."
And he adds: "SAP's best practices and deep integration in consumer packaged goods functionality will help us achieve our business goals."
Maple Leaf Foods will implement SAP solutions using a phased approach, starting with SAP ERP across financials, HR, manufacturing, sales, procurement and logistics.
The company says it will then deploy the SAP for Consumer Products solution portfoliofor its industry-specific functionality designed to help food companies become more demand-driven.
