SAP’s TechEd 2008 technical and business process conference season, starting next month, is being themed along ‘connect, collaborate, co-innovate’ lines.
Now in its 12th year, the venues are Las Vegas from September 8—12 , Berlin from October 14—16, Shanghai from November 5—6 and Bangalore from November 12—14, and the software giant is promising hands-on events such as ‘Demo Jam’, ‘Hacker Night’ and ‘Community Clubhouse’, all aimed at tackling real-world IT challenges.
Keynotes at each of the events are to be hosted by Zia Yusuf, executive vice president of SAP’s Global Ecosystem and Partner Group, and will feature co-CEO Léo Apotheker in Berlin, board members John Schwarz (Las Vegas) and Jim Hagemann Snabe (Bangalore) and CTO Vishal Sikka in Shanghai).
As for topics, SAP says they will be around how to drive process efficiencies within and across departmental and business boundaries and improving business flexibility.
SAP also says it plans to put on everything from introductory sessions to advanced, hands-on technical workshops, with product managers and developers on hand at each location.
Unsurprisingly, core content at this year’s events include SAP NetWeaver, the SAP Business Suite, SOA (service-orientated architecture), Java and ABAP – as well as Business Objects business intelligence, performance analysis and reporting software.
“SAP TechEd provides a forum for individuals to roll up their sleeves and connect with the people, resources and information they need to collaborate and address common issues and problems facing IT organisations today,” comments Yusuf.
“By empowering themselves and tapping the collective knowledge of the SAP ecosystem, individuals can guide their organizations to strategic agility and competitive differentiation.”
