Sheffield-based Loadhog, manufacturer of returnable plastic crates, has teamed up with a key supplier to offer apprentice swapping opportunities.
Loadhog's deal with plastics recycler Luxus sees apprentices swapping between the two companies for up to eight weeks, giving them a better understanding of the technical processes involved at each site.
Loadhog will show Luxus apprentices how polymers are used within its injection moulding processes. The apprentices will also work with Loadhog's designers and engineers on product design, prototyping, material selection and testing. At Luxus, the apprentices will see how polymer alloys with a high recycled content are sourced and formulated.
Ed Stubbs, Loadhog's MD, said: "We are delighted to join Luxus at this time when the need for engineering-focused apprenticeships has never been greater... We hope to attract increased interest from young people - both graduate and non-graduates who enjoy technology and problem solving and would like to become future engineers."
