Participants in the National Physical Laboratory’s (NPL’s) training framework can now be assured that its dimensional measurement training framework meets industry-recognised levels of competence, following its validation by the National Skills Academy for Manufacturing.
NPL is the UK’s National Measurement Institute - a world-leading centre of excellence in developing and applying the most accurate measurement standards, science and technology. Its training framework is designed to help businesses reduce waste, increase profits and productivity through improving employees’ measurement skills.
Skills Academy managing director Bob Gibbon said: “The National Skills Academy for Manufacturing is a safeguard against poor training content and delivery. We are a beacon of security for manufacturing employers who don’t know where to find quality training and are confused by the skills landscape. By validating training content and providers, we are showing employers the path to quality content and training delivery. NPL now has an independent guarantee that its training framework meets a recognised benchmark for quality and is aligned to the training needs identified by industry.”
NPL chief executive Steve McQuillan said the validation meant that customers could be told with confidence that the Laboratory’s training content met the needs of industry and could be considered a quality product.
* The Skills Academy’s new web portal, My Skills Academy, is to be launched in full over the next few months and is aimed at helping employers, learners and training providers achieve the optimum results from focused skills training.
