Tata Steel UK has awarded Brammer a three year general bearings contract.
The deal is part of Tata Steel's Inventory & Stores Optimisation project to reduce total cost of ownership, Brammer said.
Brammer, supplier of maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) products and services, aims to optimise technical support, operational performance and overall cost under the deal.
Graham Lewis, senior sourcing lead at Tata Steel, said: "This contract is a step change from our normal way of choosing suppliers, with end users being at the forefront of the decision-making process. We are confident that the right choice has been made, and working with Brammer will make a significant difference to our cost base."
Brammer will provide dedicated services at Tata sites under the deal including supporting an inventory management project during the early stages of the contract.
Brammer engineers will also steer Tata engineers in the correct choice and application of bearings, Brammer said.
Ian Ritchie, Brammer UK MD, said: "We are delighted to be working with Tata Steel to assist them with the optimisation of their UK-wide approach to the procurement and inventory management of bearings. The agreed approach will deliver a strong focus on inventory levels and lead-time management performance, ensuring the right products are in the right place at the right time.
