Hewlett-Packard is to take over management and support of Tecnomatix’s internal IT operations world-wide – but it’s also agreed to promote the firm’s manufacturing engineering software and systems to HP’s industrial customers.
HP will be responsible for the IT infrastructure, assets, services and support at Tecnomatix’s offices – giving the firm a modernised IT infrastructure, better IT service and lower costs. Meanwhile, HP’s consulting and integration organisation will work with Tecnomatix’s sales and services teams on joint projects.
“This agreement is in line with our strategy to partner with world-leading IT system integrators in order to scale our operations, expand our market coverage and accelerate our growth,” says Harel Beit-On, Tecnomatix chairman and CEO. “We also decided to outsource our IT operations to HP to … allow us to focus on growing our business.”
Meanwhile, Tecnomatix and product lifecycle management software giant UGS PLM Solutions have extended their alliance by building interoperability between the former’s eM-Plant production and logistics visualisation tool and the latter’s Factory CAD the 3D factory layout software.
Both reckon the move has the potential to significantly reduce factory planning and redesign time and costs. Users can now get a seamless system for designing factories with full 3D visualisation of layouts while simultaneously being able to optimise material flow using ‘what if’ simulation.
