RFID users are being offered a chance to maximise the potential of this technology, with the launch of Toshiba’s RFID@TOSHIBA partner programme.
“Our work with existing clients using RIFD technology illustrated an important issue – customers didn’t have the technical knowledge of what was needed to integrate RFID into their existing business processes,” explains Rob McGregor, business development manager, Toshiba TEC.
“It also became apparent that when customers worked with a variety of RFID providers there was a lack of cohesion, which led to incompatibility and ultimately made the whole process expensive and time consuming.”
Hence the partner programme, which is about leveraging Toshiba’s existing alliances to provide solutions and consultancy. The company says that RFID@TOSHIBA will offer a complete end-to-end RFID infrastructure solution, providing users with the main components of an RFID implementation, from consultancy to after sales service.
Toshiba says it will take responsibility for defining the application and identify the correct technology, calculating ROI, delivering commercial proposals and so on. The team will then provide project management, including developing project plans, liaising with suppliers and piloting test results.
“RFID@TOSHIBA was developed not only to enable us to share technological advantages with each other but, importantly, to offer customers a portfolio of RFID-products and services from what we call best of breed RFID vendor partnerships and channel partnerships,” says McGregor.
