Manufacturing SMEs are being advised that the government’s Train to Gain scheme is now ready to provide funding for technical training on ERP systems.
The funding covers 50—100% of the overall cost, and Exel Computer Systems is making the point that it applies not only to existing Efacs ERP customers, but new potential users, which “could make the difference for some SMEs looking to invest in ERP during the current economic climate”.
Launching the £350 million Train to Gain extension scheme a few weeks ago, Skills Secretary John Denham said: “Small businesses are an important engine of our economy and we must make sure that we support them during tough economic times.
“We are overhauling the training system to make sure that they can get help with training their staff with the very minimum of bureaucracy. We know that firms which invest in skills do better than those that don’t, which is why we will be urging small businesses to take up this offer.”
To be eligible, manufacturing companies need to have less than 250 employees. Once accepted on the scheme, Exel, for example, says it would provide the relevant training in business critical areas – such as business improvement techniques, and business systems and processes review, as well as training on new or existing Efacs modules. Users can then claim back a percentage of the costs from the scheme.
