Stoke-on-Trent manufacturer Building Adhesives has appointed Norbert Dentressangle as its transport partner in a multi-million pound, three-year deal.
Building Adhesives specialises in the development, manufacture and distribution of ceramic tile adhesives, grouts and silicone sealants under its own BAL name and the Dunlop brand. As part of a wider programme to increase competitiveness, Building Adhesives sought a new distribution partner to help it improve service levels.
"We were looking for a distribution partner that had the shared-user infrastructure to handle volume deliveries, would be proactive in reducing costs and provide accurate, auditable management information," says Andy Neville, head of supply chain. "Norbert Dentressangle is the ideal partner with the expertise we need and the flexibility to handle our future plans."
Norbert Dentressangle Transport Services collects products from Building Adhesive's Stoke manufacturing facility and makes next-day deliveries – around 10,000 per annum – using regional partners and managed capacity to distributors, wholesalers and retailers across the UK.
With an automatic interface of the company's booking diary into its SHARP (Shipment Handling and Reporting Program) system, Norbert Dentressangle is able to provide Building Adhesives with greater operational visibility and control. As an added value service, the transport business works with Building Adhesives to forecast operational needs using its data capture technology to identify trends.
Part of the German Ardex Group, Building Adhesives was founded in 1962 as a development centre for the British ceramic tile industry. It remains the leading authority in the UK professional tiling market with a reputation for stringent product quality and excellent technical and training services.
