PLM (product lifecycle management) IT firm UGS has signed an OEM agreement to integrate one-step formability analysis technology from Jilin University, China, into its NX digital product development software.
The technology, developed by JLU’s Institute of Auto-body and Die Engineering (IADE) is reported to help improve design and manufacturing processes and is expected to be available in NX this autumn.
Jilin’s IADE is result of one of UGS’ GO (Global Opportunities) PLM Initiatives from November last year, when UGS gave NX and NX Nastran software worth $169m plus technical support to Jilin and set up the Jilin University/UGS Digital Manufacturing Education Centre.
“Jilin University is very honoured that UGS has validated our research efforts,” says Professor Ping Hu, Dean of IADE of Jilin University. “Our co-operation with UGS enables the graduates of Jilin University, especially those with NX certifications, to be even better placed to offer employers value in today’s competitive job market.”
