Unison wins Queen's Award

Directors at tube bending machine manufacturer Unison – Peter Wilkinson, Alan Pickering and Julian Kidger (l to r) – have received the Queen's Award for Enterprise from the Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire, Barry Dodd.

The award for international trade is in recognition of achieving outstanding export success.

Over the last year, 70% of Scarborough, North Yorkshire-based Unison's turnover has been generated by export sales including to Angola, France, Germany, Ghana, Mexico, Norway, Russia and the USA.

Its current order book has machines destined for service in France, Germany, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Poland and the USA.

Dodd commended the sustained three-year record of export growth that led to Unison winning the award, and stressed how important companies like Unison are to the UK economy.

An awards scroll and crystal bowl were handed over during Unison's annual open house event to mark the achievement.
