Dassault Systèmes’ and IBM’s version 5 release 17 Product Lifecyle Management (PLM) Portfolio includes Catia, on the model-based product development side, and Enovia VPLM and SmarTeam for lifecycle management.
And Delmia simulation for virtual production work is also now at V5 R17.
“V5 R17’s virtual community enables integration between stakeholders in the product development chain, facilitating the re-use and sharing of knowledge,” says Dominique Florack, executive vice-president of Strategy and R&D at Dassault.
“V5R17 extends V5 openness, offering major XML enhancements through its combined 3DXML and web services for large deployments in our customers’ ecosystems,” he adds.
Specifically, Catia V5 R17 extends end-to-end industry process coverage with improvements in 3D electrical harness flattening, increased efficiency for Catia Machining NC programming and simulation, styling enhancements, and auto-filleting.
Then Enovia’s key enhancements are in the VPM Navigator and in the VPLM/SmarTeam reconciliation, enabling relational design and concurrent working.
Catia V5 R17 also extends the 3D master approach, allowing faster and better display of tolerances and annotations in the drawing layout within the 3D environment.
Additionally, Enovia VPLM V5 R17 combines engineering and sourcing functions into one collaborative desktop, so that users can run design for supply, parts re-use and obsolescence management throughout the product lifecycle.
The new release also improves versioning and embeds effectivity and configuration management in VPM Navigator, dramatically improving designer productivity.
