Cabling and connector components supplier Hellermann Tyton UK expects its choice of an Infor System 21 (former Geac) Interactive Warehousing system to reduce warehouse transaction times and improve on-time deliveries.
The system is an addition to its System 21 ERP, which has been in place now for about eight years, and is currently being implemented at its three warehouses in Manchester, Aldridge and Plymouth.
Hellermann Tyton singles out more sophisticated paperless inventory and supply chain management, based on automated barcoding as the keys to its required improvements. These, it says, will provide more control over the inventories at each warehouse, with better stock accuracy and increased overall efficiencies.
Managing director Tim Evans says: “The new real-time solution will help to make everything much more efficient. By reducing the amount of time required for warehousing transactions and by eliminating the scope for errors we will be making significant progress towards our goal of always delivering on-time to our customers.”
And he adds: “The Infor solution will allow us to use our stock more intelligently and efficiently and will guide us to the exact location of all items in stock. Implementation will be carried out in three phases. Phase one has already started in Manchester; this will be followed by Plymouth; and then Aldridge.
“We’re expecting to see a good level of ROI within 12 months and at present, we’re all very much on track to achieve this.”
