Greatly increased efficiencies are the expectation at Europe’s largest pipes and fittings manufacturer Wavin Ireland. The firm’s Balbriggan plant in Co Dublin now has integrated mobile field sales management software from Oracle. Wavin went for Oracle Collaboration Suite (OCS) with Oracle9i Database and Oracle9i Portal, implemented with consulting partner Deloitte. OCS enables consolidated and integrated messaging, for the company’s field sales team so they can access email, documents and diaries from their mobiles and PDAs in real time. Meanwhile, the database and portal allow them to access up to date information on its corporate system. All of which has minimised the need for employees to waste time returning to their offices. Paul Norton, IT manager at Wavin Ireland says: “There were a number of factors influencing our choice of vendor. Oracle’s proven reliability, the ease of use that its systems offer and ultimately the economies of its options compared very favourably to other competitors.”
