The contract involves the management of two semi-automated sites: the LRS National Distribution Centre at Brockworth, Gloucestershire, and an additional site in Middlewich, where product is held for UK distribution and export.
Wincanton is the sole supplier of warehousing services to LRS in the UK. This latest agreement sees the contract extended until 2023, taking the association between the two brands to over 25 years. It also maintains stock of production materials for the factory in the Forest of Dean.
Wincanton and LRS will continue to work together on initiatives to reduce the carbon footprint of their operations. Projects to date include trialling electric trucks, upgrading the fleet with Euro 6 standard vehicles, converting warehouse and offices to LED lighting technology and a £1m investment in a new fleet of forklift trucks with more efficient charging technology that reduces energy consumption by up to 12%.
